A major mass media company in Los Angeles, California is hiring a full-time Technology Services Manager at an annualized salary of $120,000-$150,000 plus benefits.


Responsibilities

The Manager, Technology Services is primarily concerned with the development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of the technology program for the production. This individual provides leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with technology plan and Company guidelines. The employee coordinates, and may deliver, staff development on technology competencies needed for maintaining and supporting all internal systems. The employee reports to the VP, IT Operations and is dedicated to the production. The employee takes daily direction from the Executive in Charge of the production and works collaboratively with the production staff and Corporate IT departments to use technology and include technology applications as an integral part of the total technology plan for the productions. Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as IT Project manager for the relocation of a major media production to a new facility.
  • Oversees on-going IT support and maintenance for production including all broadcast staff, all servers, on-air daily production, the Digital Assets Manager (DAM) system, and all related server interfaces on behalf of the production.
  • Provides leadership for short- and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, evaluation and budgeting.
  • Responsible for selection of all computer related hardware and software needs for the production.
  • Serve as a clearinghouse of information on trends, research, applications, and effective practices related to the use of technology (within the production).
  • Technical consultant to principles on all matters as requested.
  • Assist in implementation and auditing of controls as required for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. 


Qualifications & Requirements
  • Need 10+ years experience as a senior-level IT leader / IT systems broadcast media architect.
  • Expert knowledge of Avid systems networking and high definition program technology as it relates to network design and architecture. AVID ACSR Certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience with all forms of broadcast editing systems including Avid editing systems, Avid Unity Storage Workgroups.
  • Extensive experience with networking environments blending emerging wireless technologies, video broadcast systems, and post production digital asset management systems.
  • Expert understanding of interaction between all core systems essential to a post-production facility.
  • Must have vast knowledge of network servers from design to implementation and maintenance.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems.
  • Expert level knowledge of Internetworking protocols, wired and wireless networking.
  • Expert level knowledge of Macintosh systems, including but not limited to Print/Graphic workstations.
  • Ability to analyze project requirements, draft project plans, milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Ability to establish evaluation strategies and implement formative and summative activities.
  • Expert knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local and wide area networks, Internet and intranets.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (CiscoIOS) for routers and switches.
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications systems and interoperation with Data Systems.
  • Understanding of security as it relates to data, infrastructure, and physical environment.
  • Understanding of architectural drawings, electrical plans and facilities planning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to create, or assist in the creation of policies as required for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
