The Vice President of Engineering will lead and grow a team of seven senior and intermediate software and operational engineers. In addition, this department leader will be a member of the senior management team and will work with other department heads to enable this growing business to meet its goals. Responsibilities

Attract, select, retain and motivate a world-class team of engineers. -Establish technical strategy, develop technical project plans, and execute product development & delivery plans. -Develop and continually improve the processes by which products are conceived, developed, tested, and released. -Define and manage engineering schedules and milestones. -Track performance, identify problems, communicate schedules and status, and meet product delivery schedules. -Articulate technical directions and capabilities to key customers, business units (product / business development) and outside vendors. -Investigate and recommend use of 3rd party services where appropriate. -Mentor and provide training opportunities for the senior level developers and operational staff

Qualifications & Requirements

-Passion for delivering high quality products; driven to achieve a high level of customer/partner satisfaction. -Ability to analyze and understand complex workflows and processes, and develop innovative approaches to streamlining and automating them. -Solid understanding of source code control, testing, development methodologies and release processes. -Understanding of optimization techniques for large-scale online operations; software, systems, databases, network. -Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. -First-hand knowledge of web technologies (J2EE Framework, Spring, Tomcat, Lucene, MVC), back-end programming languages (JAVA), relational databases (MySQL 5x), Linux, OO design/development, open source development.
